I just heard that in Modesto, the town where scott petersen killed his wife, the city is going to lose some officers because it had to pay much more then normal on the petersen investigation due to all the hype and fake concern generated by the story hungy media. what would have been a routine investigation and trial turned into a multi million dollar trial of the century, all thanks to the media. now, if they dont get some more funding, they will have to lose some officers and patrol routes.

Yes it is but for far graver reason then what you refer to. The peterson hulbaloo was just a symptom of the problem. Juan Cole has a great example here as to why the corporate media is dangerous and why blogging is so superior and taking their audiences...

Mainstream Media and Bloggers

Matthew Haughey says he won't read our blogs if we use the term "mainstream media" (a.k.a. MSM).

A news flash for Matt: We don't care.

We don't care if you read our web logs.

The difference, Matt, is that we are independent actors, not part of a small set of multi-billion dollar corporations. The difference is that we are not under the constraints of making a 15% profit. The difference is that we are a distributed information system, whereas MSM is like a set of stand-alone mainframes. The difference is that we can say what we damn well please.

Guffaw.

I love knowing that there are those among the citizenry so foolish that they imagine foreign terrorists are reduced to watching the teevee program 60 Minutes in order to figure out the best way to plan an attack.........

LOL, more clever pictures. thats great. between the copy and paste and attachment of drawings, i am starting to think those who accuse us of "not thinking for ourselves" are the ones who don't

Cute pic FT. The great thing about bushka is that he is slowly destroying the republican party. The republican politicians are even startiong to back away from him, and the middle of the road reps are disgusted with his antics around the Shiavo case, Bolin, SS, Gas prices, Tom DeLIE, useing tax money for advertising his policies, destroting the bankruptcy laws, etc.

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH :D

If I saw that picture I would have posted it first. It's perfect - a bunch of disparate people with misspelled signs whining "mine, mine, mine".

Maybe the guy in the blue shirt should have gotten more "edcuation" before he made his sign.

He looks to be about 21 which means he got his elementary school edcuation when Clinton was president.

great job guys..... tell the enemy our weak spot thats exactly the problem. you know, when they were selling the club to stop car theft, our news did a breaking story and showed how the club could be broken into. i know that this is way off the beaten path, but its an example of how they do things that hurt people. and how , during the 911 horror, they were telling ways that the terrorist could strike and hurt us badly ! morons

They can, however, fool a large enough percentage of them to remain in power.

BTW; the signs the People are carrying in the cartoon seem to me more of the "USGovernment, stop taking my freedoms away!" variety than a whine of "Mine mine mine".

I agree, I read every sign that was being held up in that cartoon and didn't see the word "mine" written anywhere.

Maybe the righties have some sort of special glasses they can put on and actually see invisable words.
