well im not sure it will be all that easy in this game but in Ultima Online and Everquest it was a virtual goldmine.
Check ebay and type in Ultima Online or Everquest and youll see what i mean.
With a full master level character, and a hard 4 hour slog you used to be able to sell whatever you just made/mined for like £100 / 200$ and thats no exagerration.
Castles used to fetch no less than a £1000 partly because there just wasnt any space to build them anymore. So the UO property market was rife on ebay. I remember having a 2 storey house near to a decent mining area that i sold for £100 on ebay about 2 years ago.
I didnt have the patience of my freind who made loads of money out of, simply mining rare minerals and selling them to blacksmiths so they could make top level weapons and then sell them. I think in the end UO banned the sale of stuff on ebay for a while because it was getting out of hand.

I dont know about everquest but i assume the same thing happens on there as in ---

The difference is that Guildwars isnt about the sitting around mining for hours on end.. so things might be difficult in that sense. Still it looks fun so ill give it a go.
o and on closer inspection it seems that Everquest-Platinum actually has people working for it, simply there to mine minerals in everquest.

Burn... in fucking hell. It is both A)Illegal in most places and B)Ruins the fuck out of any game it occurs in. It's nothing but an asshole operation and all who participate should be banned for life. Any who attempt to demolish the integrity of any game doesn't deserve to play.

totally varies, im out doing the radio show quite a bit, and gigs and things... but today i took it off and had a go. Its really different though, the whole focus is on exploring in groups and fighting. Blacksmith, Woodsman, etc all out of the window. The best you can do is pay an NPC to craft something but like that takes time.
Funny though, you think your doing well and then you wander off aimlessly and take a beating by every monster you see.
Once ya chose ya char, dont be a Necro, its hard to play on your own since your a defence character class so your constantly forced to find people to play with.
Also there is a MASSIVE language barrier, with percentages being like 50% french 20% German 15% english 15% other.
BEautiful though, scenary and stuff is really good.

ya, on the Guild Wars forums it appears that while it is an MMORPG it is not like Ultima where as you walk around the world there are players everywhere. all the players are in the citys and when you want to go on a quest you either find some party members to join you or get some NPC's to go along with you. Or, if you are brave (or stupid) you go alone.
the game is set up to be a party system type game. not any one class can do it all alone. you need a variety of classes in your party to do well and find loot. The standard RPG classes apply. Mesmer , warrior, healer, ranger.....all of that. If you went out into the world alone that is probably why you got your ass handed to you. PLus, if you leave the training area before you get to level 6 or 7 you wont stand a chance in the "real world".
another thing I found is that there are straight PvP arenas where teams, or "guilds" can go agaisnt each other in head to head combat. Each player in the guild has a specialtiy and trying to find the right mix of classes and skills is the cahllenge.

Yeh, finding NPC's to help you is also seemingly impossible since i havent found one yet. Being in a guild now seems unavoidable and the only way of progressing. (Its called GUILDwars so i should have expected this)
The downside comes in finding a decent enough guild to join, then finding that guilds officers whom are normally out playing in the different lands.
Also in respect to the Citys, there is about 14 different servers for each city so you need to keep in constant chat with whomever your talking to in order to be able to see each other.
I might switch to the American server, they are all likely to speak english.

thats why you have to get xfire so you can track your teamates down even while they are in a game. I plan too, once i get the game that is! of course then i will ahve to find people to play with. why dont you get xfire and add me as a friend. do you play any other games?
i am under the name travh20
