man.... they have no business losing games.... i love how when they lose nobody ever is surpised... the media never grills their ass.
WHY NOT?
They have a payroll higher than the freaking National Defense budget!!!
The fact that they are losing games is SOOOO underacheiving, and they should be grilled and ridiculed because they suck REALLY REALLY bad!!!

Don't we'll come back, there are 162 games in a season, and there's still a lot of basesball coming.

Yes, the trade deadline is months away, so they can always go out and spend even more to buy talent.

Being a lifelong Yankee fan (or at least since the age of 6 :) ) I have seen many people gloating over the Yankees lack of success in any particular season. During the mid to late 80's there were many reasons a Yankee hater could gloat. Not so much since the mid 90's. But as usual, I say enjoy it while you can. This will not last too long and the Yankees will be back where they belong: 1st place and heading to the playoffs. :) You heard it here first. (well, second since the truth also said the Yanks would come back:D )

I have to say, when the Rays won a couple days ago to put the damned Yanks in the cellar by themselves...I nearly cried tears of joy.
Of course, it didn't last. Oh well. I'll enjoy seeing the Yanks bomb in the playoffs again this year. Or maybe be ravaged by injuries to their ancient key players. Either would be good.

the new york yankee's are the highest paid team in the major leagues. with that being said they suck really really badly. it is also funny that some people think they will win the world series this year. please the red sox showed them how to win a true world series. not by buying the best players in the game but by wanting it the most and working ever so hard. and yes this time i used a f*ckin period.

You left out they had the second highest paid team in the major leagues. Guess you're wrong about them "not buying the best players inthe game". Or maybe im wrong and they just spent all that money on their water boy.

Here are the latest standings:
Orioles 22 13 .629
Red Sox 21 14 .600
Blue Jays 19 17 .528
Yankees 17 19 .472
Devil Rays 14 23 .378
Yup, the Yankees just won six in a row. *sniff sniff* Is that a comeback I smell?
I second Havok's prediction: 1st place and then off to the playoffs. I also predict that by the time the postseason comes around, Borg will have deleted this thread out of shame. :D

Shame? Hardly. If the Yankees get first place...ho hum, what can you expect from a quarter of a billion dollars? If they do anything less than winning the World Series, it'll be a massive disappointment.
It must suck to be a Yankees fan.

It sucks to be both a Yankees and Knicks fan, especially when your a die hard fan like me. Lucky I can't afford season tickets, I would be weeping my eyes out everynight.

Cry me a river, Yankee fans.
Chicago has to wait years at a time for a lousy playoff berth.
This is because of inept, greedy management on both sides of town which has never won a pennant and never will.
They figure if they can draw 3 million gullibles to the park, that is the World Series!
At least the Yankees have an owner who is passionate about the game and genuinely wants to win and not just contend once in a while, although we're so desperate that we'd settle for that much.
You should try getting bitch-slapped by small market teams year after year.
Why do othe fans keep paying these stupid owners for the same results?
Think about teams like the Orioles, Bluejays and Devil Rays. Honestly, the Bluejays and the Orioles would probably have made it to the play-offs on several occasions had they been in a different division. when the Yankees and Boston come along with the two highest payed teams in MLB, what chance do they have? I say let the Yankees lose a season, lol.

Ok ok ok... so the Yankees lost a few games! Everyone is entitled to regroup, lose a few and come back. You guys just wait and see! It may not be this year, but they'll be back. It's inevitable. :D
I'm heading to the stadium in August for one of the White Sox games. Their left handed pitcher is pretty good. And, if the Yanks lose at home, you guys can ridicule, piss and moan and pick all you want. I'll have deserved it.
(I go just to see Posada and Bernie!) :)

Just an update: the Yankees are now in 2nd place, and just two wins behind Boston. Better LOL at the Yankees while you still can.

Last year's Boston Red Sox were the most expensive team to ever win the World Series. They had the second highest payroll to the Yank's.
So, while spending a lot of money will not guarantee you a title, it almost guarantee's you a shot at the title year after year.

George reminds me of a kid playing a season of MLB baseball or w/e on his Playstation. You trade for the best players. Use up all you "team money" to buy A-Rod and Barry Bonds, and then A-Rod tears his bicep and is out for 180 games which is your whole season, and you cant trade him because no one wants him hurt (because it only last for one season) and uhhh........oh yeah....he just reminds me of a kid playing a video game.

I laugh at the Yankees. How about them? They won the American East after starting out 11-19 and being in last place. They were without 3/5 of their starting rotation for almost the entire year. They were without their ace, Mike Mussina for more than a month at the end of the year. Randy Johnson, while being a solid pitcher for them, certainly wasnt the Randy Johnson of old. The replacements for the 3/5 of their rotation that was injured were two rookies and a guy from Colorado who was 1-7 when he was traded to the Yankees. All that and they still won the East. You're right.

They've spent roughly a billion dollars in payroll over the past five years. How many World Series championships have they won in those five years?
Zero.

Hey anyone can cheer for who they want... I live in Cleveland and like the Indians... and we had a GREAT year... why?
because we only spend forty-some million and hang with the likes of the yankees because they outspend us by 150 million dollars...
hey, its not OUR fault the yankees spend all their money on lemons... they are idiots for doing so. The fact is they should be RUNNING AWAY with the east, and they won it by the skins of their teeth... and they should have COASTED to a world series win... which they didnt.
What a bunch of losers.

Hmmm...lets see. Which team has been to the playoffs every year for the last 10 years? 10 for 10 is batting 1.000. Pretty good baseball average I would say. Which team has won the world series 4 out of the last 10 years? 4 for 10 is batting .400. Once again, pretty good baseball average. No other professional team in any sport can make these statements about their team. Losers? :@@:
Keep on rooting for the Tampa's and the Cleveland's and thinking the most successful sports franchise in history are "losers". Whatever helps you get through each frustrating year, I guess. :)
