This thought came to me, and when I looked thru the forum I found that it was true :@@:

Why am I the only member :alien: who writes their posts in a color?

Black isn't a color. It's the absence of color.

no i think it is black, the absense of color absorbs all the colors in the spectrum producing black to our eyes...where white is all the colors, absorbing no colors from the spectrum...producing white to our eyes

i think

damn that is technical. But in a literal sense its white yeh? because i start with a white canvas and then i add colour. Its white before colour, its colour afterwards.

but your white canvas is made with all the colors to make it white to your eyes...then you add the other colors, which also are seen by your eyes with what they absorb and reflect...so in actuality the color you see is not the real color because of the light spectrum

its all horse shit... lol

We're talking light, not pigment. Absence of pigment is white. Absence of light is black. The three primary colors of light are well known: RGB, or red, green, blue. An even mixture of those three is gray, until we get fully saturated, when it then becomes white. You can tell that white light is a mixture of all the colors by breaking the white light into its constituent colors using a prism of some sort. This is the phenomenon behind rainbows.

But when it comes to writing or drawing, you are using pigments to make the color. Black is used by mixing all the colors. You don't use light to print, you use ink.

A computer monitor, TV, or other screen uses light, not pigment.

i thought the absense of pigment was clear. Like the Blue Morpho butterfly. Even though it's shiny and blue, if you look closely, it's scales are actually clear.

Black absorbs all colors, so none are reflected. We define a color by what is reflected. Also, white light, when broken up, is made up of many colors.

Finally, you still need light to see all of this. So, if there was no light, then everything would be black.
