A close friend of mine asked me to do this for him as he's been quite busy lately. My name is jed, very new here, though I've lurked for a while. This is my friend's auction on Ebay, what do you think about it?

That's what commercials are for.

Eh, you're probably right - but I've seen the auctions for "forehead advertisement" that have made money, I don't see how this is any worse.

not worse; just as bad.

and if it works, it's worth it isn't it?

worth it for the walker cause he gets the money and the company (depending on economic status) loses a lot.

True... so for my friend, it's worth the try. I'm convinced that this item will not sell, but if it does end up making money, it was worth the effort.

oh it'll make money for him, but thats about all it will make for anybody.

There have been people that have walked across America before. What makes your friend such hot shi*?

What do I think of this?

I don't think people will pay money

Basically, you'd just be paying some guy to walk across america. All the money goes towards his supplies and nothing else...who the hell would pay money for that? If the money went to some charity, I think it would be more feasable.

The only person I've ever paid to see run/walk across our great land was Forest Gump!

May I suggest a temporary membership for new people on these boards?

I know at CT Fisherman.com, their policy is a guy has to "earn" the right to talk about things other than fishing. Their site is devoted to fishing and hunting and while they have places on that site where you can talk about the Bears game or the Red Sox, you sign up for that particular discusssion board and not talk fishing, you get booted.

This board is about the discussion of ideas. It isn't a commercial and advertising board and it just rubs me the wrong way when people sign up here to push their crap. As much as I believe in capitalism, I really resent seeing advertising everywhere.

Spam is bad enough, I just hate to see it here.
