Great, another list!

Albert Pujols- Great first two seasons. Not so much last year.

Jim Thome- Way too inconsistent!
Randy Johnson- Great in his prime. Threw a perfect game at 40. One of the best in history, not of TODAY.
Sammy Sosa- Decent ball player. Horrible character.
Todd Helton- Best pure hitter in baseball. I'll give you this one.
Manny Ramirez - No.
Pedro Martinez- Gone downhill sense the late 90's.
Gary Sheffield- Slid after bouncing from team to team.
Alex Rodriguez- He was better before arriving in NY.
Curt Schilling- A good pitcher.

Curt Schilling- A good pitcher.

Pujols- last year hit .330+, 45+hr, 120+RBIs, not much last year, are you kidding me.
Thome- AVG might be inconsistent, but HR and RBI production wise, 40+ hrs and 100+ RBIs for the last 3-4 years, last year was his worst production wise in the last 3-4 years.
Randy Johnson- STILL one of the best today, especially with him on the yankees, with that lineup, he will up his wins, and his era will hopefully stay the same or get even lower.
Sammy Sosa- I predict a monster year for him, horrible character is the way we see it through the media, all I can say is that a fresh new contract, he should get back in form.
Todd Helton- I agree, but only because Pujols has played for 4 years and Helton for 8, though 1st season only played like a month. 7 straight years .300+ Avg and always gets his fair share of hrs and RBIs.
Manny- no. Are you basing on character or stats. Other than the fact he is one of the most clueless people in the OF, he is still one of the best hitters in the game today.
Pedro- Career wise is considered an elite pitcher every year, but in the last couple of years, some of that seems to be coming off. Still he is a top 20-25 SPs every year.
Sheffield- he is a fantastic hitter, but last years production had decreased, but is still a top 25 hitter.
Alex- is the most complete player in a long time, and probably the best overall player in the game today. Remains to be the only true 40/40 player not in the steriod scandel.
Curt- a good pitcher, but injuries has always plaugued him. I doubt anoter repeat of last year, but should still do well enough.

I would think about adding a closer like Gange or M. Rivera. Ichiro would be on my list, though he doesn't have much pop, but can hit them at will, but for some reason he doesn't.

why dont I see Rafael Palmero?

I like your lists but Palmero is about to get 3000 hits this year, being only the 25th to do so, and next season should have 600 HRs! On top of that he has several gold gloves and he is still a great defensive player at 40.

Pujols- Awesome offensive talent. Maybe the best hitter in the game today. Has been working hard on his defense at first base.

Thome- Used to be one of the premier lefthanded hitters in the game. Injuries have slowed him down this year. Maybe after he recovers a bit he can get back to his old form, which was never in the top 10 in baseball anyway.

Randy Johnson- Quite simply the most dominant left hander that I have personally ever seen pitch. However, age and injuries have caught up to him and he is on the decline. Not a top 10 anymore.

Sammy Sosa- Are you kidding? He has flat out sucked since he no longer can use corked bats. 'Nuff said about this cheating chump.

Todd Helton- Above average hitter that is helped a lot by Coors field and the effect the "rarified air" has on breaking pitches. Check his splits for home/away and you will see what im talking about.

Manny Ramirez- One of the best hitters in the game. Horrible defensive player. Not one of the top 10 all around players in the game because of the weak defense.

Pedro Martinez- One of the two most dominant right handers I have ever seen in my lifetime. He and Roger Clemons are at the top of the food chain in the baseball universe.

Gary Sheffield- Another player that age is starting to catch up to. Every year he has one injury or another that he plays through. At one time his defense was good enough to warrant a top 10 spot, but that time has past.

Alex Rodriguez- Quite simply the best all around player in the game. Maybe the best all around player ever. There is nothing he cannot do on a baseball field.

Curt Shilling- Great pitcher. One of the top 10 the last 10 years. Not one of the top 10 baseball players though, IMO.

Here's my list for anyone to critique as they see fit.

1) Alex Rodriguez- See statement above

2)Ichiro Suzuki- Hitting machine. Great defense. Cannon for an arm.

3)Vlad (the impaler) Guerrero- This guy can hit a ball over the fence that a pitcher bounces to the plate. I've never seen a guy who can hit any pitch, anywhere its thrown. Great defender also. Cannon for an arm.

4)Johann Santana- Filthiest pitcher in the game today. Mid 90's fastball, wicked slider, good curve, and add in the best change up in the game, and you have the most dominant pitcher in baseball today.

5)Albert Pujols- See statement above

6)Pedro Martinez- See statement above

7)Roger Clemons- Still doing it in his 40's. Still dominant also. Amazing.

8)Jason Varitek- Give me a .300 hitting, 30 homer catcher any day of the week. Jorge Posada used to put up similar numbers but his best days are behind him. Varitek has been the best catcher in the game the last couple years, IMO.

9)Miguel Tejada- The best SS in the game now that Arod is playing 3rd base. Miggy is the one guy on the O's team that I fear with the game on the line.

10)Derek Jeter- I'll admit I may be a little biased here, since I am a Yankee fan and he is my fav. Yankee. Captain Intangibles has done nothing but win since he joined the team in '96. Four world titles under his belt and never missed the playoffs. Gotta be something special, IMO.

Havok, the best list so far and pretty much the same as mine.
D.J. is my fav. player too, and your not being biased. He is one of the most clutch players in baseball history; I'm talking hitting and def. The guy is awesome, and continues to wow.

Undr, Raphie is a great player, but doesn't match up the way he use to against today’s stars.

i think aramis ramirez is one of the best, overlooked, and underappreciated hitters out there right now. he's a kick-ass third baseman, too!
as for a list of 10, i'll get it to you in the morning!!

Welp, he got busted for steroids...so dont expect him to climb into the list anytime soon.

my computer has been down; sorry!
i know i owe you guys a list. let me think...
ok, here we go. in NO particular order:

1. alex rodriguez
2. albert pujols
3. vladimir guerrera
4. mark buerhle
5. derek jeter
6. manny ramirez
7. pedro martinez
8. roger clemens
9. mariano rivera
10. miguel tejada

beltran has had a crappy year this year, which kind of knocked him out of the running. notice there are no cubbies that made the list. while a couple have had stellar years this year, i wouldn't say they're "top-ten" worthy.
ok, havok, there's your list!!:D

ok, havok, there's your list!!:D Thats a very strong list, IMO. Mark Buerhle is a pretty good pitcher, but he is the only choice you made that I dont agree with. You have good baseball taste. :)

he said he based it on his past four or five seasons.

What I love about Mark Buerhle is that he eats up innings and pitches very quickly. He doesn't waste any time after a pitch, just winds up and pitches.

Thats a lot like Zambrano. I love to watch him pit on tv...but I'd hate to see him pitch in person...because if hes having a good day, and the cubs are hitting at a normal rate....itd be too quick an outing at the park.

Most underrated pitcher? Carlos Silva. The man is a control freak. Had as many wins as walks this year.
