My list is a LOT better.

Led Zeppelin, Styx, Boston, & Queen SUCK. The Eagles are alright, & so is Lynyrd Skynyrd.

How is your list better? I haven't even posted my list.

And Boston sucks? My head is on fire...

Led Zeppelin & Queen are GARBAGE. THE WORST MUSICIANS of the 70's & 80's.

Alright, who the hell are you to tell me what I should and should not like? I like Boston, etc. You're free to not like them. You're free to think they suck. But damn, man, your views don't trump mine. You need to learn some respect. You're not the center of the universe, though at 21, I'm not surprised to see that you think you are. Were you spoiled as a kid? Did Mommy and Daddy buy you lots of things? Welcome to the real world; you're not the only one with an opinion.

We're all entitled to our own opinions, but when someone thinks differently of you, why badmouth them just cause their list is different from yours?

(if that's not hypocritical of me at the moment, I don't know what is).

He's not, he's telling you that they are bad musicians, which they bloody hell are not.

Led Zeppelin & Queen are GARBAGE. THE WORST MUSICIANS of the 70's & 80's.
Hey, dumbass who still listens to Linkin Park. I wonder if you can pull off the guitar solo in Queen's Innuendo! And no matter how annoying Bohemian Rhapsody may get through over playing, it is probably the greatest musical masterpiece of our time, I would like to see you find piece of musical work better than that. I also wonder if you can play any of Jimmy Page's songs. So, enlighten us with your superior musical talents! Oh third greatest(or maybe you think you're better than Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen too) guitarist in the world, bless us with your excelent abilities!

OK, so either you're just a troll or you can't tell the difference between bands you don't like and bands that aren't talented. I don't care for the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton, but I would never tell someone that they aren't talented.

Probably the most talented musician of the past 20 years is Prince.

That guy can play 26 instruments - very very well.

His music sucks these days - but he is one talented m'fucker.

Prince is one of the WORST musicians of the last 20 years. I have heard his "music", & he SUCKS. NO TALENT.

So? He's still got more talent than you do.

I doubt you've heard that much of his music - do you know how many albums he has released since 1979? Do you realise how many big hits other people have had with songs he wrote for them? - You'd be shocked. The Bangles, Chakka Chan, Sinead O'Conner...

But, regardless of if you like his music - this thread is talented musicians - not talented songwriters. Prince is one hell of a talented musician.

Led Zepelin and Queen are definitely up there. Rolling Stones, Beatles, blah blah blah, we all know the obvious ones. but how about being obscure and hipsterish? oh boy! first off, the velvet underground. the grateful dead and phish, although I'm not such a big fan, I saw phish right before they broke up, and they ROCK live. Nirvana, the pixies, brian eno, the talking heads, sonic youth, the smiths. I think you catch my drift.

The Grateful Dead and Nirvana are not exactly obscure...

well, technically not, but comared to some of the stuff being posted here (Boston, Styx, Linkin Park, etc.) they are, and at that rate they weren't going to get the mention they deserve.

No, I would say that the Dead are probably more famous than Boston. Nirvana, maybe not, though all the Kurt Cobain news may have thrust them back into the spotlight for a while.

I never understood the Nirvana hype. While I actually like their music, I've never seen any real genius quality to it.

My personal favorites include the Animals, the Doors, the Grateful Dead, Muddy Waters, the Yardbirds, Chris Smithers, Ray Wylie Hubbard, J.J. Cale, and David Bromberg.
If you want someone whose songs were hits for everyone else, listen to J.J. Cale. He wrote "After Midnight" and "Cocaine" that were big hits for Eric Clapton. He also wrote "Call Me the Breeze" which was big for Lynnrd Skynnrd. He has also had songs recorded by Neil Young and many other people.

Boston a little more, um, mainstream. to put it politely to you lovers of popular cheesy seventies rock.

i am always perplexed why Queen is never mentioned among the mainstream "greatest bands of all time"....

And i am always perplexed why the Beatles are continually glorified by rolling stone and other magazines.... its like they just can't let go.

The beatles are great... legendary.... but to have 3 out of the top 5 CD's OF ALL TIME be of the beatles.... that's pushing it.

Dave Grohl I'll give you. If Kurt and Chris were really talented (beyond the talent level of your average successful musician) they didn't seem to display it in their music.

Lets not forget these : Ry Cooder, Roy Clark, Chet Atkins, and of course, Les Paul. While we're at it, lets be sure to thank some of the folks that provide the tools of the trade - C.F. Martin, Orville Gibson, Leo Fender, Adolph Rickenbacker and others who toiled endlessly to put fine insturments in our hands today.
