I'm not sure how many of you seen the UK game last night with Michigan State.....but, well, I did.

If you didn't I'll fill you in. We hit a three at the buzzer to send it into overtime. Then, in the overtime, as we led by 4 we let them get 5 rebounds in a row to nail a three. We were tied and had the ball with 25 seconds to go. We didnt even get a stinkin shot off.

The 2nd overtime was pretty much all St....and we once again went down in a classic game.

Oh, Woe is me!!!!:(

Indeed I sympathize, for I have had the same feeling about my Wisconsin Badgers. It wasn't quite as dramatic, but the loss to UNC was full of might have beens.

I feel for you as well Imagineer. Although that game has kind of been overshadowed by the 3 OT games.....it was still a scramble for UNC to pull off a win. And we all know UNC is stocked to the brim with enough talent that IMHO could beat some of the lower NBA teams.

I will say this, for a conference that isn't considered very tough the Big 10 has plenty of teams that have done very well in the tournament. Half of the Final Four are from the Big 10. The experts all say that the number of conference losses eliminate teams from the national rankings. My take on that is that if you have to play Illinois and Michigain State twice each, a loss or two is only to be expected. Wisconsin was the third best team in the Big 10 this year, and they gave UNC a pretty good game in the tournament. Third best in the Big 10 was good enough to make the Elite 8. The two better teams made the Final Four. I still think Illinois will wind up winning it all. Why do the experts all fail to respect the Big 10?

I think it just came down to the dominance of Ill. They were so far ahead that everyone else was overlooked.

I think that may be part of it. I think another, and much larger part is that the national media is based on the east and west coasts, so conferences that are located there are rated higher. It is easier for them to see those teams live, and they naturally favor the teams they are more familair with.

That's probably true. I do think there is no denying that the ACC was the most competitive conference this year, however, that is not to say that they were the most powerful. They just had three good teams with enough smaller teams to balance them out.

The Big 10 had three very good teams this year also. All three made it to the Elite 8. Two of them are in the Final 4. Illinois is the best of the group, as proved by their record against the others, but all of them were pretty good.

Agreed.
