What would you do if...


You were walking down the street one dark and lonely night. There is no one else on the streets anywhere, no one but you. You cross an alley and happen to hear someone scream. You look, and see a very large man beating a medium built woman. He strikes her to the ground, takes her purse, drags her by the hair behind a dumpster, and then starts to rip her clothes off while struggling to take his off as well. While shes screaming in terror, You look around and see no one anywhere, no payphones, and you have no cellphone or weapons in your possession.

What would you do?

Tackle him and hope she sticks around to help me gang up on him before he kicks my ass.

Same as lionel. I'm pretty sure I'd get my ass kicked, but I'm hoping to get a nut kick in there somewhere and the chance to get myself and her out of there...

Of course my initial reaction would be a desire to allow the flight response but I couldn't live with myself later... so...

Start screaming "fire, fire, fire," because people for some reason will respond to that more quickly than a call for help...then I would have to jump the guy and hope that two small women united could somehow get the guy to take off. With the adrenaline rush that this would cause I think it is quite possible.

Sneak up and try to bash the guy's head against the Dumpster, then, hope he was knocked unconscious. If not, the woman and I would have to kick the guy's ass...

I would move in quietly behind him, punch him hard in the kidneys, and after that I'd improvise.

well , he is definantly busy,and distracted. so a good hard kick to the kidneys oughta have him pissin blood for a week, and a good nut kick can kill him if done hard enough. hell with it, no one's looking, except her, might as well chop him on the trachea. kill the fucker.]

I happened to be in similar situations (less dramatic though) twice in my life. I did not have the guts to attack the guys but in both cases my only presence as a witness was enough - once the victim managed to flee while I was trying to convince the agressor not to hit me ; the other time the agressor went away while I was trying to stop a taxi.
I know I would hardly be brave enough to attack the agressor.

Yeah well you didn't turn a blind eye and run... it doesn't matter how you achieved the desired results except that you did.

I am not so sure that it is about bravery. Sometimes it is just a flash reaction... I am not pysically inclined at all and I don't like pain but I do know that fear can make me do things I never thought I was capable of...adreneline rush can be a wonderful thing... :)

You helped it doesn't have to be physical...

I'd wait until he was either naked, or had his pants around his knees...then attack screaming like a banshee :D

Thats about the best answqer posted so far. Thats also what I'd do.

I'm not sure what I would do, it would be awfully hard to intervene very physically, because im so small, but i would certainly try my hardest to stop him.

OK first I doubt I would be in a dark alley. But I know rape is no joking matter. So of course I would help. No man who is raping a woman in a dark alley would be willing to take the chance of getting caught. I would run up screaming waving my keys and scratch him one hell of a good one. Also if I lived in an area with a dark cold alley, I would make a habit of carrying mace or a little foghorn type device in my purse. You can hear those things for bout a mile. It is also illegal to allow a crime to take place without trying to intervene or getting help. You would be just as responible as the jerk who dipped his willy by force. Try sleeping with that on your conscience.

I've been in a similar situation. I would find the nearest heavy object and hit the man in the head with it. Certainly in an alley there would be something available. All the while I would be screaming at the top of my lungs, possibly arousing neighbors or someone close by.
Then I'd get the woman (hopefully the man was out) and run for the hills.
