Roger Ebert or somebody in the same field said this weekend that The Rock's performance in BE COOL might possibly be one of the greatest comedical performances in history.

Which leads me to ask.........What do you all think of The Rock's acting ability.

I mean.....growing up, I used to love to watch him battle it out with Stone Cold.....but IDK. I think I need to watch this movie and find out for real.

Must've been someone else, Roger Ebert wouldn't say something that inane. There are actually "critics" out there known as "quote whores" - they go on the press junkets sponsored by the studios and then are provided those perfect little quotes by the studios that end up being used in the movie ads.

As far as Mr. Rock's acting ability - he's OK. Not great, but certainly better than say, Steven Segal.

No way, in every movie, once Segal wakes up from his coma/horrendous accident/vietnam flashback he kicks everybodies ass! Ha ha ha ha

The thing about The Rock is for a muscle-bound action hero and tough-guy, he's pretty funny. He is more humorous than Arnold, Stallon, Vin Diesel, or Steven Segal.

I don't think Ebert said The Rock gave one of the best comedic performances ever in Be Cool. Lionel provided a good explanation. Lots of critics out there get paid to write pre-packaged reviews.

What Ebert did say about Be Cool, though is this: "… a classic species of bore: a self-referential movie with no self to refer to. "

These days his ass is too big for him to get off of the couch.

The only 'The Rock' I ever want to hear about is the kickass action movie. Speaking of which, Sean Connery could kick The Rock's ass with his saggy man-breasts (earned unfortunately due to old age). Vin Diesel is just pathetic. The only performance that I would even remotely say was good was in Saving Private Ryan (yes he was in that movie, back when the world was a better place and he was a nobody), and that's only because he got shot in the face by a German sniper.

Ok. Um, where did the Vin Diseal thing come from?
