I agree, Mount St Helens is quite beautiful when erupting, from my chair in Connecticut anyway. I'd sing a different tune if I lived nearby though.

I have a beautiful view of it. And it is gorgious when it erupts. It is about 80 to 90 miles north of me with the columbia river in between. The sunset last night was filled with colors from orange to plum.

That's a good place for you to be. Miles away and with a river valley between you and the volcano.

I've seen The Discovery Channel documentary on Vesuvious(sp?) and I like my volcanoes on the opposite coasts!

Echo That is kool I wish I could sit and watch from a distance.

It is beautifull to watch, sitting back with a cool glass of wine. The sunsets are awesome when there is ash in the air. But everytime it burps we all pray that the wind will take the ash in another direction. It really messes with auto air filters and lots of other stuff.

not to mention lungs don't you just hate that 2nd hand smoke :)
