Simple game. Someone posts the lyrics to one song, then people try to figure out what song they came from (Be careful with cover versions! Any cover is valid, as long as the lyrics in question are the same.) Person who gets the lyrics right posts the next lyrics. And so on. If the person whose turn it is to post the lyrics has not posted them in an hour or so, then the field is open for a new person to go, and so on...

Oh, and no cheating! You can't Google the lyrics! But you can, however, Google the title of a song you believe is the answer.

We'll start off rather easily (in my mind):

I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise
They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies

Break those chains that bind you

How we touched and went our [name of song]

Ah, that's Back in the USSR by The Beatles.

Here's another gimme:

Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall

Here's next

See them walking hand in hand across the bridge at midnight
Heads turning as the lights flashing out are so bright
Then walk right out to the fourline track
There's a camera rolling on her back on her back
And I sense the rhythms humming in a frenzy
All the way down her spine

MORE THAN A FEELING!

Ok, my turn (i'll make it an easy one)

UB40 - Red Red Wine

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings,

Yeah, I have some, but this is really easy...

I heard he sang a good song, I heard he had a style,
And so I came to see him and listen for a while.
And there he was this young bwoy, stranger to my eyes,
Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,

That's Killing me Softly with his Song...a number of people performed that, but I'll go with the original, Roberta Flack.

This one won't be easy, unless you know the band well:

Day is night in New York City
Smoke, like water, runs inside
Steel idle trees to pity
Every living thing that's died

BorgHunter
03-03-2005, 01:30 PM
No takers? Okay, the lyrics continue like this:

Gonna [name of song]
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Gonna sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time

And...the band who plays it is the name of a city.

They Can't Take That Away From Me

Writer(s): george and ira gershwin

There are many many crazy things
That will keep me loving you
And with your permission
May I list a few

The way you wear your hat
The way you sip your tea
The memory of all that
No they can’t take that away from me

The way your smile just beams
The way you sing off key
The way you haunt my dreams
No they can’t take that away from me

We may never never meet again, on that bumpy road to love
But I’ll always, always keep the memory of

The way you hold your knife
The way we danced till three
The way you changed my life
No they can’t take that away from me.

Mailyn Manson, Maroon 5, or AC/DC(and some other guy did it too but can't remember who)
That quote can ONLY be attributed to AC/DC. Cheap knockoffs of Highway to Hell, that's blasphemous. It's like taking Dream On, Renegade, or Free Bird and copying it.

As for your current one, that's Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones. Next!

I’ve seen it before, it happens all the time
You’re closing the door, you leave the world behind
You’re digging for gold, you’re throwing away
A fortune in feelings, but someday you’ll pay...

Foreigner - Cold As Ice

Err: The Innocent shall suffer… BIG TIME!
Ignignokt: We forgot all about your needs, we were too busy fulfilling our own.
Ignignokt: The wearer of this belt shalt possess all the super powers of 70’s super group: Foreigner.
Ignignokt: Your neighbor Carl was gracious enough to let us rip him off and burn his furniture for no reason.
Meatwad: Now you give me beer and a women, I’ll give that water bed a work out!
Carl: I don't need no instructions to know how to ROCK!
Ignignokt: We're here to take your pornography, and sodomize our vast imaginations....

Next lyrics:

've got a secret I've been hiding under my skin
My heart is human, my blood is boiling, my brain I.B.M.
So if you see me acting strangely, don't be surprised
I'm just a man who needed someone, and somewhere to hide
To keep me alive-just keep me alive
Somewhere to hide to keep me alive

She's a poor man's rich girl
And she'll do it for a song.

Jethro Tull – Aqualung

"I’m losing you
I know your heart is miles away
There’s a whisper there where once there was a storm
And all that’s left is that image that I’ll find a way
And some memories have tattered as they’ve torn"

DING! Wrong Answer!! These are lyrics from Jethro Tull, the song Cross Eyed Mary.

"Cross-Eyed Mary"

Who would be a poor man, a beggarman, a thief --
if he had a rich man in his hand.
And who would steal the candy
from a laughing baby's mouth
if he could take it from the money man.
Cross-eyed Mary goes jumping in again.
She signs no contract
but she always plays the game.
Dines in Hampstead village
on expense accounted gruel,
and the jack-knife barber drops her off at school.
Laughing in the playground -- gets no kicks from little boys:
would rather make it with a letching grey.
Or maybe her attention is drawn by Aqualung,
who watches through the railings as they play.
Cross-eyed Mary finds it hard to get along.
She's a poor man's rich girl
and she'll do it for a song.
She's a rich man stealer
but her favour's good and strong:
She's the Robin Hood of Highgate --
helps the poor man get along.

Here's another:

The light’s shining through on you.
Yes, I’m with you my love,
It’s the morning and just we two
