A new and more virulent strain of HIV has been discovered in New York. It can progress from the initial infection to AIDS in months instead of years. It is also resistant to nearly all of the drugs used to treat AIDS. Here are some links to articles on the situation.

So far only one case is known, but there are almost certainly more. This could easily set back the fight against AIDs to where it was in the early 1980's.
This is something that needs to be dealt with on an urgent basis. It has the potential to kill far more people than any terrorist attack. The extent of this new strain's spread must be determined, and all possible steps to limit it must be taken. In addition, funds to conduct medical research must be made immediately available.

In terms of grammar, why aren't you capitalizing the 's' in AIDS? It's not a plural word; it's an acronym, and the 's' should be capitalized...
