We get to see them everywhere, the FREE AOL TRAIL CDs , what does AOL mean when they say free ?

The installation process is very easy till we get to the part of the charging option, charging !!! why ?? we have a good explanation that the charging option is for whoever want to keep using the AOL after the free 45 days are gone (DON’T !!!!) and the whoever will keep it in the rang of 45 day will not be charged .

No, no, no, you have to read the small letters and in between the lines in the agreement section (as if anyone in the world is reading this sections every time we install software).

So, I stopped using the AOL connection after 43 days I even uninstall the program from my computer never want to use it ever again with all the pop ups and all the commercials which we have to see if we are AOL members as if we are not paying enough for the membership .

And as we already guest the next phone bill arrives with $298+ AOL charge.
Very upset calling AOL, getting to talk with like 4-5 customers service people (how do they find those morrows?) some of them let me wait and forget about me, some don’t know how to help me in the case of canceling the forced account and some are just pure stupid . finally I get to talk with one of the managers there that says that he can’t help me since I don’t remember the scrim name I was using couple month ago and am not using it any more, saying that they charge a phone bill and I ask not to charge it any more knowing (and they can double check it if they want ) that from this phone number will never be connection to AOL ever !!! no, he can’t do it, the phone is not under my name, my roommate has to call to cancel it.
SO she calls, they get back to the don’t know the scrim name story and can’t cancel it.

So , here I am a very unhappy customer of one of the biggest companies in the us, without getting any service from them, and with no way out !!!

Don’t be stupid, nothing is free in this world especially not the AOL FREE TRAIL !!

AOL sucks. End of story. So does MSN, too. The two ISPs that are the best, in my opinion, are Earthlink and AT&T. They both have worked well for my family. Now I have RoadRunner, and it's fast and all that, but tech support sucks, as it does everywhere.

Bottom line: if you're in the market for a new dial-up ISP, go with Earthlink or AT&T.

Similar experience - joined AOL free trial just so i could check a site's compatibility on the AOL browser - then cancelled. They kept on billing.

Cancelling is a nightmare - try to find cancel in the system - its like trying to find a needle in a haystack - then when you find it - its a number to call, on hold for 30 mins, then ok cancelled - or so you think.

Re-contacted them about why the billed 2 months - they said - "oh we have record of you last call where you agreed to just have a longer trial" - Yah right - I said refund please, they said ok - no refund yet, but at least they stopped billing

If I could be bothered I would write to the state attorney general about them
