On Friday, November 15, anti-choice legislators in Georgia's House prefiled an unconstitutional bill (HB 1) that would treat women who exercise their right to choose as "executioners."

Women seeking abortion would have to obtain a "death warrant" and go to trial against a court-appointed guardian for her fetus. A jury would decide whether she should be forced to continue the pregnancy. Doctors who perform an abortion without a "death warrant" could be imprisoned for up to 5 years.

It is hard to adequately express how outrageous this action by Georgia's anti-choice officials is.

This is an egregious violation of women's rights, and you probably won't read about it in the newspaper or hear about it on TV. These state legislative attacks on choice are typically under the radar, and pro-choice Americans don't have a chance to speak out against them.

What do all of you think? Even if you are pro-life, is this the direction lawmakers against abortion rights should go?

NARAL has asked that pro-choicers forward these messages to help get the information out. Here is NARAL's link for anyone who may want it... http://www.naral.org/index.html

I love that rhetorical slogan. But, in the spirit of diversity which is religeously central to liberal ideology, I demand that the pro-choice crowd adopt the new slogan "anti-life"!

My original post in this thread is totally slanted. I was very clear about where this message came from, and even gave the link for NARAL so that people could read and find out more about them.

This message was meant to get information out. I know many pro-lifers who do not agree with a woman's right to choose, but who think it would be tramatic to women to have to face a court and jury about this very personal topic. Not to mention that a court hearing would cause the abortion to be put off until even later in pregnancy (many only agree with abortion if it done early on).

Actually, I think you are wrong about your "anti-life" statement. I can handle being called pro-abortion, but not anti-life because that is just silly. The pro-life movement seems to care more about the unborn than it does about the born. I am very pro-life, the mother's life.

And in fact it would make much more sense to call the "pro-life" : "anti-choice" ! because they want to force the whole society to embrace their point of view, while the pro-choice let everyone deal with their own conscience.
But I discussed this more deeply on another thread…

That is just disgusting! America is so confusing. It is a combination of the most advanced technologies, and the most outdated ideas.

We just don't seem to make any progress.
