View Full Version : Genocide In Guatemala!!
Mr. Shaman

"The constitutional court in Guatemala has halted the trial of 16 soldiers charged over one of the worst massacres during the country's civil war. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4238417.stm)
The court went against legal precedent in Guatemala by ruling that a 1996 amnesty law covered massacre cases.
Human rights groups have called the decision disastrous.
More than 200 people died in 1982 when a commando unit from Guatemala's army burst into the village of Dos Erres, searching for guerrilla sympathisers."

They must be getting a little too close to Emperor Negroponte!!!! (http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2004/04/289707.html)

What an INCONVENIENCE (http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/ADCA48CC-9307-466B-BA18-82724CAA7484.htm) that would be, presently!!!!

Let's see, Guatamala halts a trial for 16 soldiers on charges of a massacre they participated in, somehow this is Bush's fault and then you go and site AL-JAZEERA over the whole thing.
Your thinking is convoluted.

And yes shamans thinking is convoluted thats why no one responds to his threads. They bounce off the walls in bold faced font with cryptic phrases killing all desire.

John Negroponte was the mastermind behind the death squads of Central America.
Bush chose him to be ambassador to the United Nations.
Your thinking is head-in-the-sand.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.......let's see...........
NOPE!! I never suggested it was Bush's fault........unless (of course) you were referring-to the Reagan/Bush-participation (http://www.converge.org.nz/lac/articles/news990610b.htm) (and, everyone of their admin who're magically workin' for The Idiot Son, presently). On that note, you'd be correct.

I believe sleight-of-hand (by the Bush-admin) would be more-appropriate.
It's not hard being a magician, when your audience/fan-base is a bunch of suckers.
That strategy works, fairly-well, for con-men & hypnotists, as well.

I guess I depend (too much) on peoples' sense-of-curiosity.......obviously a bad strategy, during the present period of Bush-style uncurious approach to facts & figures.......much like the Reagan-years.......

why do shaman, freethinker and 500lbgorrila stay in the US? I am serious, why? if I felt like they did I could not stay here, if I did I would feel like shit for doing nothing about all the genocide and masacres then shooting my mouth off on a forum. why dont you guys get together and take some shit down?

Shaman - you have to much faith my friend. Even on the old boards I posted on Not one sigle person would read the shit unless icopied and pasted the whole damn thing. And still then they wouldnt.
Ever hear of attacking from the belly of the beast Trav? The US is so powerful economically that Europe acts like a bunch of little girls when it comes to what they want (of course that coming to an end real soon, the Euro looking to kick some ass). Its also a militray super fortress (unless of course it fits our leaders agenda to let a few through). So from outside the system there is absolutly no way to try and change how fucked up America is, but from inside it a whole other story. We still have the freedom of speech (mostly, and for now). And the ability to try and influence laws and policies. If you wanna work outside the system you can just cause general havoc until the machine become so bloated with beauracracy to deal with every every little infraction the beast will come tumbling down. They cant arrest us all and sooner or later the prison population will play a crucial role in transforming this country.
BTW - how come you sound like your working for the government now by trying to encourage everyone to "do something about it" you stupid snitch

ROTFLMAO, Europe is a military super fortress, thats pretty damn funny man
and your plan to change things reminds me of that seinfeld episode where Kramer plans to bankrupt the ethnic clothing store by taking the dessicant packs out of the pockets, "those cloths wont last 5 years" he said, LMAO.

I guess you'd call it the act of being a good citizen.......even when it requires carrying an extra-load......for the lazy-folks who figure their only responsibilty is to PROFIT from living-in-this-country (see: 1%ers)!!! (Hell.....there are still people who (actually) INVE$T in their home-country!! (http://www.responsiblewealth.org/))
We figure the BEST course-of-action (when representing our country), is CONSISTANCY.......just like being a good parent......even when your children try to hustle you.
I think it's (still) called MATURITY.......especially when it'd be more-convenient to do the opposite.

Yeah, Trav - he was talking about America with the "super fortress" quip, not Europe.

Just for the record, it doesn't sound as if you're looking to transform America, it sounds as if you're interested in watching it fail. You don't seem like the type person who genuinely loves his country for what it's provided the world, you sound like someone who hates every faction of it, and that becomes painfully apparent when you make some of your posts. Jmo.

Yeah, people die in another country and immediately it is the fault of the USA. Then you go to a Islamic website to back up your claims. Then you use a liberal magazine to do the same... dont believe everything you read or hear Shaman.

It did require a little effort (http://www.thepanamanews.com/pn/v_07/issue_09/opinion_01.html).......and, a lotta tax-dollars!
Not to worry, though. No one's gonna accuse you fascista-apologists of being History-majors.

Thanks for the correction, but after doing a little research, I found that network to be pretty badly skewed. Take this little gem from their "about Al Jazeera" page:
"Our expanded coverage competed with and sometimes outperformed our competitors bringing into the spotlight the war’s devastating impact on the lives of ordinary people."
Nice mission statement...
Yeah...allowing these people to choose was a real knife in their back. Do you honestly have difficulty grasping the fact that the western world is superior to them in every palpable measure? Oil is most likely the reason you're able to communicate with us today, Shaman, and if not, then it's certainly responsible for allowing you to get to and from work, which puts food in your stomach, a roof over your head, and some money in your checking account for movies, drinking, and other leisure activities. Some of the Afghanis and Iraqis use newspaper as a toilet. Think about where I'm going with this argument...
As far as I'm concerned, you can take this propaganda and put it on par with all the other anti-Bush sentiment you relentlessly collect.
Thanks, but no thanks...

Al Jazeera is in fact a very good information station. It has been created by former BBC members and hosted by Qatar, that never tried to make it a "state TV station" but allowed it to stay free. It is the only arab speaking channel that allows opponents to many regimes to speak freely - and more generally, that allows multiple point of views to be discussed.
the statement quoted by The Preatorian ""Our expanded coverage competed with and sometimes outperformed our competitors bringing into the spotlight the war’s devastating impact on the lives of ordinary people."
is true and should in fact be the mission of every infoirmation channel. Journalists who cover a war from the only poit of view of the invasion army are not enough to get proper information.

Well hell, I guess that's a start. They'll only have to work on freedom for about 229 more years until they catch up to us. Congrats to Qatar for at least practicing some semblance of it.

You missed the point, Astra. If they were truly being objective, then why would they make a comment predetermining their findings as having a negative impact on ordinary people when our goal is to make their lives better, give them a democracy, and free them from tyranny?
Btw, I understand that we're also there to make some money, and I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with that considering what we've fronted, and what we're looking to achieve.
Hey, it’s only fair…
