Feds charge four Hells Angels with racketeering
Four leaders of Hells Angels motorcycle clubs are accused of conducting a decade-long conspiracy to sell drugs in Illinois.
Federal prosecutors today announced federal racketeering and drug distribution charges against the men, who've led Hells Angels chapters in Chicago, Rockford and Spring Valley.
U.S. Attorney Jan Paul Miller says the men used violence and intimidation against rival gangs and others to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine. Prosecutors say their four-year investigation revealed shootings, beatings and threatened arsons to protect the club's drug turf.
The men -- Melvin Chancey of Alsip, James White of Belvidere, David Ohlendorf of New Lennox and Richard Abrams of Rockford -- are being held in Peoria County's jail and could face life in prison if convicted
