Howdy,

When i was 16 i spent about 8 months doing jack all, so in that time i tended to sleep through the day and go out at night etc, come back piss about till about 6-7am and then fall asleep again.

at 17 i got a fulltime job and thus it brings my to the present.

The problem is, Its like my body cant reset my bodyclock to accept that during the day im awake and at night i need to go to sleep. Ill be tired all the way through the day and then come about 8-9pm i suddenly wake up and find it really difficult to get to sleep anytime before 1am. Which of course then makes me knackered even more the following day and by the weekend all i can do is just sleep.

Not my ideal situation, anyone know how to reconfigure the brain, might try hooking up a blitz engine managment system and tweaking the settings :D

But yeh sitting in an office all day isnt helping, and this is trashing my eyes leaving bags and its just not nice, Im 20 :( so shouldnt look all worn out.

Well actually, some people are just naturally wired to be owls...others are morning doves.

And you are just gonna love my suggestion. I know it sucks when you are tired, but in order to switch your schedule you are likely going to have to tough it out on the weekend when you want to sleep and maintain a weekday schedule on the weekend till things get turned around.

In other words... go to bed Friday and Saturday night as though you have to work the next day. Get up early when you want to be sleeping in and give your body a chance to adjust. I don't think there is any other way around it.

The other thing you may want to do to help sleep at the regular time is to try Gravol temporarily. It is a nausea drug but it will help you to sleep and it is non addictive. Doctors recommend it for shift workers to ease them over shift changes. For gawd sake don't start messing with uppers and downers or you may as well just kiss your ass goodnight now...permanently.

I've had similar problems in the past, and one of my kids has sleep disorder. I recently researched on something called Melatonin. It's something already naturally produced by your brain, when your eyes sense it's getting dark. Many people use it to combat jetlag. I don't know about it's availability in your area, but it's recently avail here in canada in health food stores.

If you want to try it, you have to get the pharmaceutical grade, you don't want any animal derived. It will definately get your biorhythms back in order.

I've tried it myself, having been sleep deprived for the last 3 years, and it def. got me back in order. I will see if I can pull up some info for you. Best of luck, and try not to nap too much, and keep your weekly hours during the weekend.

I am trying to get back to normal sleeping pattern. I've been going to bed at 7 am and getting up at 3 pm.

My plan is to slowly adjust. Go to bed and get up 30 minutes earlier than the day before. If tired after getting up or can't sleep, rough it up. Goal is to get back to sleeping from 2 am to 9:30 am.

When I succeeded I'll let u know.

Of course if you work during the day you can't afford to adjust incrementally, so you'll probably need to really rough it up right away. I recommend eat and exercise a lot while awake. Even though you won't seem to be able to concentrate mentally, you can still force yourself to do physical stuff. It's a trick I learned.
